SHALIMAR, AN ODE TO SENSUALITY

Guerlain’s legendary fragrance, Shalimar, is a hauntingly sensual, timeless scent in an iconic bottle symbolizing a mythic, incandescent love story. The first ambery fragrance overdosed with vanilla, embodies intoxicating femininity and a hint of the forbidden.

THE QUINTESSENCE OF “GUERLINADE”

Voluptuous and sensual, Shalimar Eau de Parfum opens with a breeze of flowers and bergamot, warmed with notes of iris, jasmine, and rose. Vanilla, balsam notes, and tonka beans meanwhile bring power and sensuality to this now-legendary fragrance. Also included are the notes that make up the famous “Guerlinade” olfactory signature, which is recognized for making many of the Guerlain house fragrances so unique.

  • Vanilla - an essential raw material in the famous "Guerlinade" signature, vanilla is the key note found within SHalimar's legendary fragrance, and dear to the Guerlain house. Sensual and luminous, it imbues skin with gourmand, woody, leathery, and spicy aromas.
  • Bergamot - Altogether zesty, green, and floral, this faceted citrus dubbed the "green gold of Calabria", is also one of the House's favorite raw materials. Overdosed in Shalimar and paired with iris, it brings a sparkling opening to the legendary scent.
"ITS FRESH AND DELICIOUS FLIGHT BECOMES A SENSUAL MIST, AS YOU DISCOVER VANILLA AND THE POWDERY NOTES WITHIN ITS SOFT AND SENSUAL BASE.”
-Jacques Guerlain,
Iconic Guerlain house perfumer
In the 1920s, the tale of a true fairytale romance inspired the fragrance's creator, Jacques Guerlain. The love between an Indian Emperor and his cherished wife, Mumtaz Mahal flourished in the beautiful gardens of Shalimar. Devastated by her untimely death, the emperor built a mausoleum that would later become one of the great wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. Touched by this beautiful love story, Jacques Guerlain created Shalimar, the world's first Oriental fragrance.

AN ICONIC BOTTLE

Both a technical feat and daring gem, the Shalimar bottle with its arabesque designs evokes the basins of the Shalimar gardens. Its fan-shaped stopper brings to mind the eternal beauty of the garden’s water jets.
